Remember that if you are feeding any unaltered free-roaming cats in the 93306 zip code, you can have them altered FREE OF CHARGE through the Happy Cats grant. Trapped cats are altered through Angel Dogs at the Kern County Shelter on the following dates: March 20, April 3 and 17; May 1, 15 and 29; June 12 and 26. Trapped cats must be brought in by 8:30 a.m. and picked up the same day. The shelter is loaning traps free of charge.  Remember, if you feed you must fix! Join Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation for pizza and fun at their fundraiser on February 29th from 4 to 9 p.m. at Red Brick Pizza, 9500 Brimhall Road, Bakersfield.  A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Friends to help support the Kern County animal shelters.
