Red & Spike need a home together!!

Red & Spike: 14 yr. old brothers – neutered, current on all shots, inseparable. Owners died in February. We must find a loving home where they can just live out their remaining lives together. They are indoor/outdoor (backyard) and have no behavior problems. They are fine with other cats and dogs.

“The Cat People” a non-profit organization is in need of volunteers to work at their gift shop located at 1930 18th Street, in the H.P. Sears building, just west of the Masonic Temple. The shop is open Wednesday thru Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. If interested, please call 327-4706 and leave a message for the volunteer coordinator.

Volunteer’s Cat Needs Home

Please help us. A beloved volunteer died suddenly yesterday (3/22) and her ongoing wish was that her cat and best friend Sam could be taken in and loved. He is now in a cage, frightened to death and very stressed. We are desperate to find a foster home or better yet a permanent indoor- only home. He is a beautiful creme Siamese with blue eyes, three year old neutered male. He has never had a problem with his litter box and has never sprayed. If you think you could help us please contact BarbH@thecatpeople.org and she can give you more details.

Update: We found a home for Sam with a wonderful lady and teacher friend of Barb’s! Meanwhile, Sam finally ate a little dinner.

Free altering for zip code 93306 cats

Remember that if you are feeding any unaltered free-roaming cats in the 93306 zip code, you can have them altered FREE OF CHARGE through the Happy Cats grant. Trapped cats are altered through Angel Dogs at the Kern County Shelter on the following dates: March 20, April 3 and 17; May 1, 15 and 29; June 12 and 26. Trapped cats must be brought in by 8:30 a.m. and picked up the same day. The shelter is loaning traps free of charge. Remember, if you feed you must fix! We are into the breeding season and taking a little time will prevent more unwanted litters!

Friends Foundation Pizza Fundraiser

Join Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation for pizza and fun at their fundraiser on February 29th from 4 to 9 p.m. at Red Brick Pizza, 9500 Brimhall Road, Bakersfield. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Friends to help support the Kern County animal shelters.
