Welcome 2021!

No doubt 2020 was a difficult year. We missed seeing our members and friends at in-person fundraising events, and with the shelters being closed for months at a time all the local animal groups felt the strain of our overpopulation problem! But, we’ve gotten off to a great start.

January saw our first free Mobile Spay Clinic in quite a while and it was a huge success! The Simi Valley crew does an amazing job and fixed 192 cats in three days. That is a lot of cats! Our next Mobile Spay Clinic will be in Frebruary but we are waiting on our dates confirmation. Those dates will be posted as soon as possible.

We hope you and your cats are all doing well and we hope to see you all real soon.

City Residents Get Cats Fixed For Free

To our Cat Loving Community--we are pleased to announce a wonderful grant from #spaytogether for Community and Feral cats. This generous grant will allow City Residents to have Community or Feral Cats fixed at no charge, at Critters without Litters. This is a limited time grant, but we hope it will help City Residents decrease the Cat population in a safe humane manner. Please call Critters without Litters. Critters without Litters will fix these cats for free! Go to their website for all the details.

Mobile Spay Clinic in October! Fingers Crossed!

It has been quite the kittens season, and with pandemic protocols keeping the shelters closed, even more challenging than usual. Trapping becomes difficult in the heat, but we all know fixing those community and feral felines is the answer to the enourmous problem in our city. A huge thanks to everyone working on colony control…keep up the good work!

All of us here at The Cat People hope our plans for an October Mobile Spay Clinic work out. As soon as we know for sure, we will let all of you know.

Another Mobile Spay Clinic is Scheduled!

The Cat People will host another Simi Valley Mobile Spay Clinic on January 7th, 8th and 9th! We are all very excited to get a three day clinic. At 50 cats per day, that means 150 cats will be altered….always good news. The clinic will be held at the Sanctuary, located at 4120 East Drive, on the corner of East and Fairhaven. The surgeries are free to the public but you must have an appointment. Make that appointment by calling 805-584-3823. Leave a message and your call will be returned.

Bear in mind, though free to the public these mobile clinics cost a lot of money. The three day clinic will be $7500.00, paid for by The Cat People. When we ask for donations it is because we want to do as many of these clinics as we possibly can. It is the only way to get a handle on this community’s abundance of homeless cats and kittens. We think this is one effort we can all get behind! Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

Successful Open House Fundraiser!

Thank you to everyone who attended The Cat People Open House on November 16th. The event was a great success and we appreciate your support very much. Our hope is to fund as many Mobile Spay Clinics as possible in the coming year, but that will require significant amounts of money. The Open House was a very good start in that effort.

We all know taking a few cats in off the streets will not solve this community’s problem with homeless cats and kittens. Stopping the cycle of reproduction is the key, and it still will be a long process. But it needs to start somewhere, and our belief is the spaying and neutering of more and more cats will eventually help solve the problem.

Thank you to our volunteers as well, that made the open house possible. All of us working together made it happen! And a great big thank you to our many members…without your continued support we would not be able to do what we love…improving the lives of felines in our community.
